Docent Program

Do you love sharing stories, connecting with people, and learning something new every day? The First Americans Museum Docent Program is your chance to bring history, culture, and art to life for visitors from across the globe.
Docents (pronounced DOH-sense) receive four months of hands-on training, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to lead engaging tours for school field trips, adult groups, and walk-in visitors. The 2027 docent class kicks off January 5, 2027 and runs through April—and with only one class each year, now’s the time to join!
You might be the perfect fit if you’re:
- Available for Jan.–Mar. 2027 trainings on Tuesdays from 1–4 p.m. and/or Sundays from 1–4 p.m.
- Able to pitch in with tours a few times a month
- Comfortable with email and using a computer or phone to sign up for shifts
- Excited about public speaking with groups of up to 20 people
- Curious and eager to learn about First American arts, history, and cultures
- Punctual, reliable, and respectful of diverse communities
