Docent Program

Applications for the 2026 Docent Class have closed. FAM accepts applicants for this volunteer program during October of each year. Check back for details about the 2027 class!

Do you love sharing stories, connecting with people, and learning something new every day? The First Americans Museum Docent Program is your chance to bring history, culture, and art to life for visitors from across the globe.

Docents (pronounced DOH-sense) receive four months of hands-on training, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to lead engaging tours for school field trips, adult groups, and walk-in visitors. The 2026 docent class kicks off January 5, 2026 and runs through April—and with only one class each year, now’s the time to join!

  • Able to pitch in with tours a few times a month
  • Comfortable with email and using a computer or phone to sign up for shifts
  • Excited about public speaking with groups of up to 20 people
