Indigenous Peoples Day

Drop in for a day-long celebration of Native history, arts and culture! This event is FREE to the public and visitors will enjoy $5 discounted admission to the museum exhibitions. Onsite parking is available for this event!

1:00 | Social Dance (everyone welcome!)

2:00 | Reading of the Mayoral Proclamation and Remarks

3:00 | OKCPS NASS Dance Group

4:00 | Moore Public Schools Indian Education Dance Group

Singing/Drum led by Brent Greenwood (Chickasaw/Ponca)

All above events will take place in the Courtyard. Visitors may bring their own chair, blanket and umbrella. No coolers or outside drink.

Coffee, soda, beer/wine and lighter fare available at Arbor Café (10:00-7:00 PM)

Courtyard concessions available 12-5 in support of Matriarch

Indigenous-inspired cuisine available at Thirty Nine Restaurant (11:00-4:00 PM)

12:00-5:00 | Hands-on activities in the galleries and Hall of The people

1:00, 3:00 & 6:00 | Walk-in tours included with admission—meet at the Ticketing desk in Hall of The People

12:30 | Storytime with Metro Library

1:30 | Prairie Dance Theatre Performance

2:30 | Storytime with Metro Library

3:30 | Prairie Dance Theatre Performance

5:00 | Live Set with DJ Werewulf (Muscogee/Kiowa)

All above events will take place in the Xchange Theater.

12:00 – 6:00 | Marathon Screening of Rutherford Falls 

7:00 | Panel Discussion on Native representation in popular culture, including:

  • Jana Schmieding, Rutherford Falls writer and actor (Cheyenne River Lakota Sioux) via Zoom
  • Crystal Echo-Hawk (Pawnee), CEO of IllumiNative via Zoom
  • Actor Jake Tiger (Seminole, Ojibwe, Sac & Fox)
  • Actor and podcaster Angela Startz (Inupiaq)
  • Moderated by Sarah Adams-Cornell of Matriarch (Choctaw)

Tickets are not required for these events and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
